Question:
Powerful interest groups number in the hundreds, but we have just two important parties in the United States. Both political parties and interest groups get involved in elections; interest groups endorse and raise money for candidates. Both interest groups and political parties need money and members to be effective. Political parties do not work with other parties—they run against them—but interest groups often work with other interest groups when their interests overlap.
