A GED credential verifies that an individual has completed a minimum education level equivalent to that of a high school student. To achieve this credential, a person must pass a five-part exam covering the subjects that all high school students must learn: science, mathematics, language arts writing, language arts reading, and social studies.
The test consists mainly of multiple-choice questions that are scored by a computer. The language arts writing test, on the other hand, requires you to write an essay that will be scored by a human being. The mathematics portion of the subtest is also split into two parts, but only part one allows you to use a calculator.
SUBJECT | TIME |
Math | 115 minutes |
Social Studies | 90 minutes |
Science | 90 minutes |
Language Arts | 150 minutes |
Total | 7 hours, 41 minutes |
